Despite the name of the thread im certain the cause is with my Asus K8N-E Deluxe motherboard by looking around the web.

Everything was running fine the day/week/months before this happend, I switched my PC on and got an error speach "CPU failed due to overclocking" even though it was no overclocked, I pulled the jumper on the mobo and everything worked again, I put my BIOS back to the settings I used, loaded Windows then turned it off and put my PC back on its stand etc, went to turn it back on and.. "CPU failed due to overclocking" so I pulled the jumper again and left the BIOS as default and still after being turned off and put back into place again.. "CPU failed due to overclocking", after pulling the jumper 1 more time ive have not shut my PC down, ive restarted it okay, I dont want to turn it off because this problem will probably happen again and my back is abit sore after fiddling with this yesterday :( now leaving my PC on forever untill I upgrade is no solution, and im really stumped on what to do

I had this error speech on my PC when my CPU died. (Asus k8V / AMD 3200+)

Though as you can boot sometimes your CPU is obviously not dead.

You might want to check the CPU heatsink is on properly and reseat the CPU, but if this doesnt work youre gonna need to isolate the problem by changing out some bits.

If its saying its failed due to overclocking, do you have battery issues? I could be way off here mate - but it seems its losing its marbles somewhere and that'd be my first port of call. You haven't left the Ccmos jumper in the wrong place have you?

Yeh im sure the jumper is in the right place, before I went to the cinema yesterday I put the Vcore to 1.6, a few hours later and there were no problems, I turned it off and it wouldnt turn on, "CPU failed due to overclocking" but this time not even changing the jumper will bring it back to life, looks like its kicked the bucket this time, its been off all night so ill give the jumper 1 last try before I pull the CPU and resit it.
