My daughters pc has died, it first started with the machine posting but no display , so i checked it wasnt the monitor and that was fine , then i changed the graphics card and still no display , then i changed the mobo and now its refusing to post, i thought it was the PSU as no fans where spinning up it seemed like a lack of power so i changed that with a spare and i still wouldnt post and now im kinda lost

The only constant is the CPU and the ram altho ive swapped a couple sticks around to no joy

would a CPU failure cause these symptoms ?

Yeah sorry i should have mentioned , its an opteron 146 clocked to about 2.5ghz iirc

it was living in a asrock dual sata mobo , now its in a Neo2 Platinum

Whilst it's odd for CPU's to die, it does happen and you seem to have exhausted all other options.

Provided both you RAM sticks haven't died ofcourse.

Would ram failure stop the pc posting ? its wierd that when i turn the pc on at the wall socket switch it will power for a couple of seconds (fans will spin) but when i actually press the power on button nothing happens
