Hi everyone!

Im using the skythe ninja cooler. It says that the cooler can be used with out the fan but i am using it, and have plugged it into the CPU fan slot on the mboard.

But when i view my hardware pc health check it shows that the cpu fan is at 400rpm for roughly 10secs then jumps to 6000 rpm for around a second, then back to 400rpm. There is no difference in sound or speed in the RPM of the fan.

Anything to be worried about? because there is a warning sign in the hardware program.... The CPU temp is only 23 degrees which i think is ok as ive read on the forums that most cpus hit around 50-80 when oc/ed.

Just checking sorry for the silly questions!!

Cheers

also the system fan is a wire that was coming from my power supply... on my motherboard i have no slot for power supply fan,

But my system fan has no wire coming from it and is directly connected to the psu?

So i take it that the wire coming from the psu is the system fan? lol

That is all rather confusing and I'm not sure whether it is just the way you have explained it or not. :) I'd firstly take the view that the software is probably wrong about the fan speed(since it will take the reading from the motherboard), you should have a fan header on your motherboard that you can connect the Ninja to(if you've already done so and it still jumps so wildly I'd ignore the speed reading as it is clearly wrong). I'd then check the temperature in bios as well as the fan speed but 23C might be correct in this instance as the Ninja is a good cooler.

Forgot to mention, ive checked in the bios and the both readings on the windows program and bios are the same.

Sorry if i havent explained very well....

OK basically this is what is going on....

NINJA is connected to the cpu_fan slot on the mboard

The big fan at the rear of the case (which is blowing air out of the case) which is also right next to my ninja (cause the ninja is so big), This fan is connected to the power supply.

Now coming from my power supply i have a thin black and blue wire (which goes into a 3 slot connector, i was told this is the monitoring fan cable.... On my motherboard there is no slot for pwr_fan (even tho its printed on the circuit board) so i plugged it into the sys_fan....

any ideas guys?

Hi,

In regards to your fan speed - sometimes the fan spins to slowly and gives strange readings, the same happens on my system sometimes my fans are running at 9000 RPM .

Personly I think you have nothing to worry about.
