Is it possible to turn a CPU fan into a case fan?

I have a Gelid Tranquillo cooler on my cpu so I don't need the intel stock cooler, and I also have the intel stock cooler that was in my old pc.

So you want to turn the fan from the stock cooler into a case fan?

I wouldn't, not only would it be a pain to do, I doubt it would be very effective. Especially when you could just buy a purpose made case fan for next to nothing.

Just take the fan off the heatsink and plug it into a fan header on your mobo?

Not quite sure what you mean.

Also am I right in thinking they are only like 60mm? Wouldn't be effective atall I shouldn't think.

You could but you'd have to bodge the mounting somehow since its meant to clip onto the heatsink. It has no proper arrangement for being screwed onto a case wall.
