Hi Guys,
Just a quick question about fan control.
If i use the ASUS mobo BIOS to control CPU fan and pump speed on AIO and a fan
controller for case fans is there any need for ASUS AI suite III ?
System is
ASUS croosshair VII Hero MOBO
Ryzen 7 2700X with EVGA 240MM AIO cooler

If the controls available in the BIOS meet your needs (in terms of being able to set an appropriate curve) then no, you wouldn't need the AI suite software.

Check what kind of control is actually available though. It looks like that AIO cooler has a connector on the pump block to plug its fans into, but if plugging them in there you'd need their EVGA Flow Control software to be able to control it.

To control both the pump and AIO fans from the motherboard BIOS directly, you'd need to connect them directly to the motherboard, to the pump and CPU fan headers. I'm not sure what you could use as a temperature source to control the pump speed though - if you have to control it based upon CPU temperature, it would end up changing very frequently.

The CPU fans are plugged into CPU_FAN and the AIO pump is on AIO_PUMP.
In the BIOS i've set a standard curve for CPU fan and 100% for pump
I've just deleted AI Suite and fans still under control.
Looking back I dont know why I installed AI suite. it just seems to complicate things

Does step up times work for you on asus? I could never get mine to work and fans boosting at the slightest change was annoying
