Hey guys,

My heatsink fan has just died, it's stopped spinning but I have noticed that it keeps juttering? It's all plugged into a pwm fan hub. Swapped cabling around but no luck. Unless i plug it directly onto the CPU fan header.
I'm not sure what to do, it's a gelid tranquillo rv2 heatsink. Do I have to buy a new one or can I just buy a new fan?

I'm gutted, literally moved to a new case not too long ago

Just buy a new fan. Make sure it's the same type (3 or 4 pin) and has the same airflow capacity as the old.

Pretty much take your pick from any of the good brands that you like the look of then really. Any 4 pin 120mm fan should be fine. A high static pressure one would probably be useful on a heatsink.

I was going to say Noctua but...

EDIT - Maybe EK vardar if you want a top teir one. (1450 RPM would be about right)

Nothing wrong with lots of cheaper offerings though

Thanks new boy, I wasn't sure what size I would need but now I do! Didn't realise it was so simple haha! In all honesty though, this has made me want to get a new heatsink. I was thinking about getting a new one as well haha.

The cool master 212 evo has good reviews but I think it wouldn't be an upgrade from my gelid tranquilo.
Shame about the colour of the noctua, it would look so out of place in my case as it's all black and red. I will look at EK

Depending on what your CPU case clearance, RAM clearance and PCIe clearance are, the Thermalright TRUE Spirit 140 and Macho 140mm fan coolers are very good and reasonalbey priced .. 33-43 quid.

Alpenfohn Matterhorn are good too. OcUK is out of Matterhorn Pure, but has Matterhorn Black for a few quid more. But Black is only a couple quid lower than TRUE Spirit 140 or Macho and they both cooler better and quieter than Matterhorn.
