CPU Fan Error At Boot - 2 x Noctua NF-F12's ?

Hi,

Would anyone please be able to assist me in resolving an error message I am getting at boot up?

I have 2 x Noctua NF-F12's connected to a Corsair H80 radiator with each Noctua fitted with the LNA adapter to limit the speed to 1200rpm. The 2 Noctuas are then connected to the PWM Y spliiter that came with the fans and this then connects to the single CPU fan header.

On boot, I am getting the message:

CPU Fan Error
Press F1 To Run Setup

On pressing F1 and entering the BIOS I can see that the CPU fan monitor indicates 357rpm and the indicator bar is coloured red whereas the other fan indicator bars are blue. After entering then leaving the BIOS the boot message keeps coming back and the PC will not progress beyond this point. It seems that the registered spin speed is too low for the BIOS to accept as safe even though the fans are both spinning and the CPU is showing at 25C?

The motherboard is an ASUS P8Z68 Deluxe and it is only since fitting the Noctuas in this configuration that I have received the error message. I had hope to be able to use the LNA adapter with the Noctuas to limit the speed to 1200rpm and also to use the PWM option by connecting to the 4 pin CPU fan header but it does not seem to work at the moment?

Should the H80 pump not be plugged into the CPU fan pins?

I am not sure if that is mandatory, the H80 block that sits on the CPU has two leads coming out of it, one with a 3 pin fan connector and the other a molex connector. If I connect the 3 pin fan lead from the H80 to the CPU fan header I have lost the PWM option and am then restricted to the 3 settings available from the H80 block.

I had hoped to be able to use the PWM option from the 4 pin Noctua fan leads rather than have them set on a fixed speed.

I would plug the h80 into the cpu_fan header and the Nf-F12is into the h80.

If you want to use the pwm, maybe plug that into a different fan header on the board?

Thx for the reply, however, how do I use the PWM when the Noctuas are plugged into the H80 and the H80 is connected to the CPU fan header? It's not possible to use the Noctua PWM in that configuration unless I am missing something?

Thx for all of the replies, I have got several options to move forward with. To get the PC to boot with the Noctuas I have plugged them directly into the H80 then the H80 to the CPU fan header. At idle the CPU temperature in the BIOS is showing as 30C with the pair of Noctuas plugged into the H80 and the H80 set to low, would that be normal or should it be lower?

I will have a tinker with the fan low speed warning in the BIOS later and also have a tinler with the LNA's on the Noctuas both in the H80 and into the CPU header.

yeh with low and voltage reducers 30C is reasonable....maybe down to 28 if lucky. Dont know exactly what you are cooling though :s ...my i5 2500k was 28-34 at idle with that setup on LOW depending on room temp. it was OC'd to 4.5GHZ

I am cooling an i7 2600k running at a stock 3.4GHz. I thought I should get the fans and cooling configured before I started to crank up the CPU.
