So i decided to get rid of the extremely loud stock AMD heatsink and swap it for the freezer 7 pro rev 2.

On boot up i get a cpu fan error and the cpu fan is not spinning, it does spin 1 rotation but then stops on boot up. On the bios my CPU just gets hotter and hotter it goes to 55c sometimes when i leave it on for 5 minutes. Ive tried ignoring the cpu fan speed and disableing q fan but nothing works. Do you guys think its a faulty fan.

The installation was easy and the fan is plugged into the 4 pin CPU fan connectior on the mother board i just dont understand why it isnt working, however the stock amd heatsink works fine.

What could i try next i cant really be bothered RMAing but i will if i have to

By any chance, are you using an Asus board?

Had the same problem as you on every cold boot. Used this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CB-031-AK&groupid=1929&catid=153&subcat=
This solved the problem for me as it allows the fan to receive power directly from the PSU but still allowing the CPU fan header to control the speed.

Another option is to connect the fan to a different header, but then that could cause the fan to run 100% all the time.

yep ASUS M4A78LT-M im not too good with this stuff my mainboard has only 1 cpu fan connector and 1 chassis fan, i have a molex to 3 pin fan connector but the connector doesnt fit in them, could i try the CPU Fan on the chassis connector?

Problem fixed you push against the fan until u here a click, now its working fine at 2500rpm, i cant believe how quiet it is and how good performance it has. Im at 3.7ghz on a 1090t and under prime 95 its only at 39c ill easy be able to hit 4.2ghz with this beast thanks for your help anyway i guess there must be a problem making these fans
