When I turn on or restart my PC i get this message:

''CPU Fan Error! Press F1 to run set up''

Iv only just installed a new CPU fan (Cooler Master 212 EVO) on a phenom ii x4 965 BE

The fan is spinning and seems to be running smoothly too. I looked at the temps on my BIOS and its was at 26C. Anyone else had this problem?

The motherboard is the ASUS M5A97 R2.0.

did you plug the cpu fan into the right fan socket on the motherboard? if its in the chassis/aux/etc socket and nothings in the cpu fan socket that would flag the error (as would a dodgy rpm wire).

Some Asus mootherboards have a low fan RPM warning which you can either set to a lower number or disable.

Yup! Go into your bios and look under monitoring and you'll see voltage, fan monitoring etc. Look under the fan monitoring tab and you should be able to set it to "ignore". I do this when running watercooling gear as it detects i dont have a cpu fan working!
