So I am going to buy a 4u Server case but I have been reading into the limitations for the height of the CPU fan.
I was going to use the coolermaster v6GT but that is way too tall.
The max size of a fan/heatsink will be 154mm for a 4u server chassis. Does anyone have experience with fans in a 4u server chassis?
The noctua nh-c12p is my next contender, it is 140mm tall, but I have seen some coolers at 150mm giving 4mm clearance for the lid.
I guess I'm looking for a cooler that has better cooling than stock and how loud it is will become irrelevant as the 24 bay hard drive hot swap front end will be louder than any single fan and it will be in another room.
I am dubious about low profile coolers as a few reviews I have read seem to state that they do little to no better than stock cooling and that makes me worry about using it in a server case with hot air flowing from the HDD's...
