Ok got my new chip - very quick! but im still using my stock AMD 3000+ fan, any ideas of what could replace it ? idealy something that uses the stock mounts ? i did purchase a Zalman FS-C77 but its so large and heavy - also have to remove mobo to fit it - so its going back , any recommendations ? or can i stick with the stock fan ?

yup that one looks very good - ive not had any problems with the normal amd 3000 fan for the last couple of days - but do worry its not up to the job - is there any windows software i can use to check the temp of it ? if not that fan looks spot on thanks !

There is normally a program that comes on the mobo CD. Any of the following will do though:
MBM5 - if it's supported or if you can find a confi file on the net for your particular board
SpeedFan
Everest Home Edition - the free one

The Freezer64 isn't the best cooler about, but it's easy to fit, if you really need that (just how often do you take them in and out !) and it's very good for the money.

thing is i dont want to take the mobo out to fit a non standard socket one... to be honest seems to be running ok on the standard cpu fan - will have to monitor temperate to see.

i've got a Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro for my 4000+, and my bro has one on his x2 4200+.

I would highly recommended it!
