CPU fan - is it broke?

Hey, my CPU heatsink fan sometimes spins, sometimes not - then sometimes it will look as if it wants to spin but it cant?

Is this normal? Any ideass?

Does the fan start working and speed up when the CPU gets hotter?

You may have motherboard smart fan control enabled. Look in your BIOS and set all CPU fan speeds to 100% to see if that gets it working. If so you can mess about with the settings to get something that works but still runs quieter when you want it to.

What sort of temps are you running at?

Get a program like CoreTemp, Realtemp, OCCT, everest to check.

Yeah - but I would only run diagnostics rather than stress tests (like the one in OCCT) until you've made sure the fans are working.
