CPU Fan Lapping?

Hey all,

I was going to buy a brand new CPU fan with my upgrade... however, before I go and do that - I have a question...

If I was to rip the Arctic Cooler I have on my current rig out and use it on my brand new e8400 - would I need to lap the base of the CPU fan, or could I just wipe the paste off and start again?

You can just wipe the paste off and start again, make sure to get it all off though. Use something like 100% Isopropyl Alcohol or Arcticlean.

Cool I still have my Akasa TIM Cleaner ready

I also have half a tube of this left since my last build (About 1 year and a half) - is it still okay to use?

I used Ceramique that I had lying around for at least 2-3 years, so i'd say it should be fine.
