Hi All,

I need some help, I have built a PC for a friend and the CPU fan doesn't seem to want to work on startup. When it gets into Windows its fine.

The spec is;
Gigabyte GA_945PL_S3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Western Digital Caviar SE16 250GB 2500KS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM
G.Skill 2GB DDR2 PK PC2-6400 (2x1GB) CAS4 Dual Channel Kit
Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
FSP Sparkle FX600-GLN Epsilon 600W ATX2.0 PSU
WD 80Gb HDD for windows
ATI X800XT for gfx (soon to change in a month or two).

Is there some thing I could have missed in the BIOS? Or is this a known problem with the board.

Thanks,

Agent.

well i had a similar scare with a DS3, there was a setting in the bios to run fan when the cpu got to a certain temp which was a default setting, probably a simimlar thing i'd imagine, have you had a look at the manual?

Hmm that,s fine so long as the temps are ok, I believe the setting is something along the lines of, auto CPU fan control or something. All it does is allow your mobo to choose when to turn the fan on i.e. it will be on full when on LOAD but stay low when on IDLE, so long as it is spinning durig windows and the temps are ok should be fine, just make sure you check temps!

PC Health Status in BIOS, Fan Speed Control Mode = PWM, and in the Fan Speed Control Method option, set that to Legacy, will spin all the time then, but when idle will spin slower than when its underload, as it will pick up then. :)
