CPU Fan on E6600

Just recently opened up my case to find that the cpu fan only stays on until I reach windows. Then is stops.

Is this normal?

It does kick in under strain. Ie when loading a game.

As long as the CPU stays cool enough I wouldn't worry about it too much. What heatsink/fan is it that you have? It is possibly thermally controlled.
