I am having a big problem with my new sandy bridge build:
Windows 7 64-bit
Motherboard - ASUS P8P67 (Bios: 1253)
CPU - i5 2500k (not overclocked)
RAM - G-Skill 4GB DDR3
GPU - PNY GTX 460 1GB XLR8
The problem is that any time I load windows, the cpu fan goes straight to 100%. Everywhere up to the windows welcome screen it is fine (bios says 1075rpm so about 20% fan speed). About mid way through the welcome screen I hear the CPU instantly much noisier and in Fan Xpert it says it is at 100% fan speed (about 2000 rpm).
The problem is not temperature, I can manually change the fan speed from Fan Xpert, and right now it is at 30 Degrees Celcius with 21% fan speed (using silent setting). This setting wont save when I restart / shut down, so it is really annoying having to go into fan xpert every time I boot windows and having to keep it open.
The Qfan setting in the bios is set to silent, and it does feel silent until windows loads, so I'm thinking windows is the problem.
Has anybody else had a similar problem or know a solution? Any help is appreciated.
Cheers,
Dominic.
