CPU fan showing 0 RPM

i have a xenomorph gaming system which i bought in dec2011 with a asus P8H61-M motherbaord. a little while ago the CPU fan no longer worked and i had the fan replaced by overclockers with no fuss, now the other day i start to get the message that the CPU is at 0 RPM in AI suiteII. i opened tha side of the case and the fan is still working and keeping the CPU cool, i read on the net that if the threshold is set at 600 it's too low for AI suite to read so it will just register at 0 RPM's. but there has been no issues before with AI suite eading the fan at 600 threshold, so i set the threshold higher to 1000 but still it shows at 0 RPM's. i run a fan test and it's looks ok apart from 20% which shows 0 RPM's, sometimes the fan will register at around 850 RPM's but then just drop straight to 0 RPM's again. i just need some good advice as this is my first PC and i am very happy with the product and overclockers, does it sound like there is a porblem with the motherbaord?.

sorry for the long line of text but just wanted to get as much info as possible.................sudeki300

install the latest version of ai suite/reinstall...also if the fan reads fine in the bios & other programs such as "AIDA64",then check disable for that reading in ai suite/software issue.

my chassis fan is not plugged into the motherboard the guys at overclockers plugged it in somewhere else, so that always shows 0 RPM's. i turned that off in the AI suite as it's not worth getting those pop-up windows for something that is not correct form the start. but with the CPU fan it's a pain as i get the error message every time i start the PC up and have to press F1 to go to setup just to boot the PC. i guess i'll have to contact technical support tomorrow and see if they can help any furthur. i'll be gutted if i have to send the PC off to be looked at, was hoping it would be a simple fix.................sudeki300

already tried installing the latest version of AI suite but had no luck, in the bios the fan shows as not spinnng at all. it sometimes jumps to 700 / 800 RPM's than back to nothing

it sounds to me the cpu fan has been fitted to the PSU,therefore there is a setting in the bios that has to be disabled. Bios > Ignore for rpm & then disable cpu fan monitor...

but the readings have been ok since putting in the new fan about three months ago, this just happened the other day out of the blue. would what you said still apply to my fan. the CPU fan has been fitted to the correct socket on the motherboard marked CPU fan, it's just the chassis fan that has been plugge in somewhere else...........sudeki300

If you havn't flashed the bios since fitting the new cpu fan. Then it has to be a faulty cpu fan or a faulty cpu fan header.
