cpu fan speed

hey

i have a scythe ninja and an a asus p5w DH deluxe, im trying to overclock but the cpu fan speed is sat at 1000 rpm, i would like to put it more so i can clock more

if there is no way in the bios i can plug my fan controler back in

Using a fan controller is much easier and quicker than rebooting and altering the bios so if you have one use it! Make sure that you disable the CPU fan header otherwise the pc might shutdown due to it thinking your cpu fan has failed.
 
i jus pluged in my fan controller and on max the fan still does 1100

i guess thats the fans top rpm

should i replace it?
 
Is it the stock fan that comes with the ninja? If so then i would replace it. I found the airflow for the stock fan to be laughable in comparison to my panaflo's. I could hardly feel anything when i put my hand near it, i can't see how people praise these so much :confused: There was no difference in temps for me with the stock fan on or off of the Ninja so i quickly replaced it for a panaflo.

A more powerful fan will be better and allows you more flexibility with the airflow as you can either have it very high or near silent whilst still pushing a lot of air.

i will hook it up now. did u notice a big improvements in temps when u switched the fans?
 
yup i jus found out, but cpu fan rpm up to 1300!

i will have to buy a new one, any reccomendations?

my temps at idle are about 32C with e6600 at 3.15ghz.

edit, do u think arctic silver will make a drop in temps? currently using the paste i got with scythe ninja cos i forgot to get some :/
 
Airflow? Deltas, although ear defenders are also required.

For a good mix of airflow/noise then the panaflo/yateloon/noctua's are all good.
 
I suggested the delta as a joke m8 - they are seriously LOUD.

I am using watercooling - best of both worlds - silent and cool ;)
 
I would recommend a panaflo fan. All my case fans are 38mm panaflo's of different speeds. Panaflo have recently been taken over by a company called NMB-MAT, i obviously can't give you a link to where to get them so search for them on google and you should find the uk site easily enough.

A couple of good fans you could get would be either the 'NMB-MAT FB-120-L1A' or the 'NMB-MAT RB-12025-L'. Both have near enough the same airflow, the difference being that the first one is 38mm thick as opposed to the usual 25mm thick fans.

I would recommend going for the 38mm thick version seeing as the Ninja is quite wide, the extra thickness in the fan will help to push the air through the Ninja. With the 38mm fan though you may have to improvise a bit on installing it as the fan clips for the Ninja are designed for 25mm thick fans. I used some string to lengthen the range of the fan clips, works like a charm :)
