My CPU fan has started to make a weird noise, sounds like a bit of grit has gotten into the fan and produces a scraping noise.
Or maybe is old? and time for a new replacement?

Am I right in saying that I need a CPU cooler with the socket 478?

I know its common sense, but I just want to make sure that I buy the right CPU cooler.

And finally which one should I get, I really don't want to spend too much as I plan on getting a new computer in July time...
So something under £25 and SILENT as possible too would be nice.

EDIT: Would this fit my computer in anyway? Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler

Cheers.

i tried all methods

AS5's strip method

peasized blob method

peasized blob then spread with finger before putting cooler on

problem is they were all on different Pcs and so i cant comment on what is the best method but generally i just apply it how i feel like
