CPU fan warning.

I put in my new cooler. an evo 212.

On start up i get a screen telling me there is an error. Press F1 for set up.

The RPM bar for the fan is in red. its spinning at around 400-500 RPM.

Using OpenHardwareMonitor i can see it goes up a bit while playing a game (around 700 RPM) but i havent had a chance for it to properly heat up yet and see if it goes faster than that.

What i'm reading is the fan should be spinning a lot faster. 1000-2000 RPM, even while idle.

I don't really know how to use the bios but i had a look around and could not find anything to adjust fan speed.

Any idea whats causing this problem or how to speed up the fan?

My motherboard is a asus p8z68-v LX if that helps.

It's because of the speed the cpu fan low rpm limit is set to. You need to go into the bios and change the cpu fan low speed limit. On my board you can set it at 200/300/400/500/600rpm or ignore. Even set to ignore Qfan will still control the fan speed normally. I have the roof 200mm fan plugged into the cpu fan header and set it to ignore and it still controls the fan speed ok.

Just keep a eye on the temps. Run something like IBT with coretemp or realtemp open and compare the temps with before. I am pretty sure all that setting does is change the rpm that the warning goes off at and has nothing to do with changing the fan speed.
