Just installed an Arctic Cooling CPU heatsink but for some reason whenever i turn my machine on the fan spins halfway round then stops. Which gives me a CPU Fan error at BIOS.

Any ideas?

Could be cpu is to cold to need the fan running (PWM fan or whatever).

There may be a setting in bios under power management to disable or ignore the cpu fan error.

EDIT

When you get the fan error does it say press F1 to continue?

After a bit more googling, i found somebody else with the same problem.

You have to take the fan off, and push it back into the axle it spins on until it clicks, reconnect and it works first time.

Pretty lazy production standards imo.

Are you connecting the cooler fan to the cpu header? If so, you may have to go into bios and check that the cpu fan PWM function is enabled.
