Cpu fan

I was woundering if it was possible to put a speed fan reduction cable onto the cpu fan or if it would screw up the fan speed and temperature control becuase when my computer idles it makes to much noise. it doesnt actualy bother me when im using it ie music films on etc. the cable is the akasa 1.

yeah i have asus probe but it doesnt allow fan speed control of the cpu i have a asus a8n sli se

yeah i know but will they work fine with the cpu fan!! thats the issue i dont want to brake it or cause overheating etc

all standard stuff and i turn on cool and quiet and makes little difference and dont have money to get a different cooler atm
