Hey again,

I just finished my first build. Howver, I noticed that the CPU fan sometimes stops spinning and after few seconds, it starts working again. Just wondering if that's normal? It's the stock cooler for Q6600.

Thanx

It depends what setting you have in the BIOS. I think the default is Intel Cool and Quiet mode, so when the temp drops, the fan decreases in speed.

I think this is what is happening with yours.

Well, since I havn't been to the BIOS yet, I take it, that's the reason it's stop spinning for copule of seconds. I will check it in a min.

Thanx for the reply though.

It's likely the mobo is set to control the fan speed by voltage instead of PWM. PWM can run the fan at very low speeds which voltage control can't. You should be able to change this in the BIOS.

BTW Cool'n'Quiet is AMD terminolgy, not Intel, so you won't find it in the BIOS.
