cpu fan

hi, fixing a computer and the cpu fan runs ok but gradually the fan noise builds up and fluctuates and at points sounds like a car revving up, i have tried to psu's with same result on both, is it the fan?

is it being controlled by the system ?

o and whilst watching temps and speeds in bios the fan actually completely stopped

i would think so, im not sure but maybe as the cpu temp goes up the fan tries to speed up but by doing this is making the noise (excess movment) thus slowing it down, what you think?

possibly, and if its a noisy fan going to be a bit more noticeable.

completly stopped ?? any chance its a bearing fan and their having a problem ?

if you can i'd take the case side of, watch how the fan works for a bit then get prime95 run that and see how the fan works.

you can see its not constent, you can see the slow downs etc. yer it stopped, but then starts again on turn on, for what it costs im gonna switch the fan

Yeh switch the fan and get a quite one whilst your at it, what size is it?
