CPU for BF4 (crossfire).

How have you tested thi.hitting just over 60% CPU usage in BF3 at an average of 120fps just tested it, yet you say yours has a definite bottleneck or am i missing something?

What is your GPU usage on both cards. Mine is anything from 40-70% on both.

If I downclock my GPUs I get a higher usage indicating a CPU bottleneck.

If I run them at stock (1000/1375) I get 40-70. Run them at 875/1375 and my usage jumps to ~85%.

I'm getting lows of 45 fps in both BF3 and 4.

As you're going AMD graphics, you'll presumably be using the Mantle version when it releases in December. I very much doubt that anything short of a 3930/4930 (12 thread) is going to beat an AMD 8 core in BF4. We don't know how much better it'll run on AMD 8 core chip than an Intel 8 thread chip, but I think it's fairly safe to say it will.

If this is a rig primarily aimed at BF4, you're probably best off getting an 8350 or 8320 and overclocking and putting the money saved from a 4770k into other things (high quality PSU / cooling / better GPUs). Just make sure you're getting the new ASUS PCIE3 board (or others once released) if you think you might be buying the new bridgeless (CF via PCIE) R290 cards at some point. If you have the cash you could get a 4930k, but the overall cost would be vastly greater and if the Mantle version is heavily optimised for Bulldozer architecture, you may find it still loses to the massively cheaper AMD chips.

Going further, BF4 can be seen as the thin end of the wedge both in CPU bottlenecking by chips with fewer than 8 threads and heavy optimisation for AMD. A 4770k isn't worth its premium over the Vishera chips for this purpose, and could find itself a long way behind in Mantle titles.

Early beta suggests i7's still run better. Plus if you have an AMD gpu capable of mantle it will take the load off the cpu whether its intel or amd.

If you are talking price/performance than AMD could shift some hardware on the back of amd.

These are the ingame settings i use 120 fps, but i play with vsync on. Are you using all 8 cores as well, i cannot see why you have a problem unless 4.4ghz is a sweet spot.
