Hi, I just aquired a Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H motherboard with 2x Corsair XMS2 DDR2 2GB.
I also have a fairly decent 480w PSU and a Lian Li PC-60 case. I was going to knock something together and sell it, but now im thinking I might build a nice HTPC out of it.

Could anyone suggest a good choice of CPU for the MoBo, keeping in mind that im not looking to spend more than £200-£250 total on this project. That may also include buying a HTPC case, HDD, and DVD drive.
Thanks

Depends really on what you want to do with it. If its for basic media playback (no 3D Blu Rays for example) then I'd go for a basic Athlon II X2 or X3 XXXe (power efficient) CPU, especially if it'll be going in a HTPC case. A second hand Athlon II X2 is around £20-25 from the bay for example. If it's for a more conventional setup and PC then the a Phenom II X4 would be a good one to grab.

I just aquired a GeForce 9600 GT too. Not sure wether to go with the Athlon II or the Phenom II now.
