CPU for gaming and HTPC use?

If you are planning to use a discrete graphics card go with an unlocked i5 Haswell/Haswell Refresh - i5 4670K atm. If you want to play with the integrate graphics, buy the most powerful AMD APU you can find - A10-7850K atm.
 
As above also is it £170 on the processor alone? What other bits have you got/need?
 
Intel Xeon's are ideal for HTPC, powerful but cool and quiet. Pair one up with like a GTX 750Ti and would have a capable gaming system that uses little power.

Have seen Xeon 1230v2's for around £150 OEM.

I do not see the Xeon meeting the overclock requirement. :) I would wait for Devil's Canyon 4690K. Otherwise 4670K is a great choice too.
