My nephew's having some issues with his PC at the moment, and is thinking about a CPU upgrade. He mainly uses the PC for gaming (CS:GO, WoW, other steam games) at 1080p, and as well gaming he also streams via Twitch every now and then, and when he does stream he wants to ensure his FPS in fast paced games like Counterstrike stay high. With his current rig, he's complaining that he's getting an FPS dip while streaming.
He's currently running an i5 2500 (the non-K variant) with 8Gb of RAM and what I presume is a standard 1155 motherboard, with a Sapphire Nitro 390 he picked up in the Black Friday deals and an Eizo Foris FS2434.
My question is does anyone think he'll benefit from an i7? I'm fairly confident just with gaming in mind that an overclocked Skylake i3 or i5 will do him, but I'm not a streamer myself and as such don't know if the hyper-threading or extra two physical cores he'd get with a 6700K or a 5820K would actually benefit him in any way, other than lightening his wallet significantly (my usual advice is go i5 and save money for a more powerful GPU).
