cpu for new rig

hi

am about to put together a new rig, with the penryn chips on the horizon am i better off getting a quad over a c2d right now? i upgrade pretty much ever year and am not sure if i'll see any benefit from a quad just yet so with theat in mind am i better off for the next year with a E6850 or a Q660?. also i dont overclock it would pretty much be left at stock
