CPU for VR Gaming?

Hey, I'm either going to get a 1080ti or a 2080.

What CPU will be best to pair with this, for mainly 4k gaming + VR gaming.


I can get an aMD 1700... will that suffice or be an issue?
 
For both 4K and VR the R7 1700 would be fine, but you'll get better performance in VR with an i7 8700K. Alternatively if you can wait a month the new Intel Core 9000 series should launch and will give you more options.
From my experience with an R7 1700, VR games tend to favour single core performance.
 
I think 1700 would be fine. Your driving two high Res screens don't forget. My 980ti never seems bottlenecked with my 3820.
