I've been given a brand new X79 mobo, and thinking of using this for my new build. What 6 cores CPUs fit this board? What do I need to be looking for?
Thanks all.

One thing to keep in mind, that both the 3xxx and 4xxx series are either both EOL or the 4XXX is about to become EOL.

Which usually means prices of them go up rather than down. And not many places still have stock of them anymore.

The 3XXX series will likely be second hand (auction sites, etc). Whilst the 4XXX could still get new, but getting scarce now days. So you need to act fast if you're going for a new CPU.

We have some good clocking 4930K in the Clearance section. I binned these for Supernova and Polaris so they are very good overclockers.

I was planning on second hand really. I did find the binned chips in the clearance section, but too dear for me!

I had originally planned to build a x99 system with a 5820k, but as this board was given to me, thought it might have worked out cheaper. I'm guessing not! The price difference is very small.

I then thought about selling the board, but I've no idea how much it's worth, and there isn't any on eBay. - I'm not asking for a valuation, don't tell me off! :p

EDIT; I may post a thread in the customer services section and see if anything can be done to the prices of the 3930K. No harm in asking I suppose
