I'm looking to upgrade my laptop's CPU. The service manual for the DV3 series (I have a DV3 4100sa) lists a whole bunch of CPUs that I could replace my current one with, but the FSB for some of them is 1333MHz and 1066MHz for others. My current naff pentium is 1066MHz.
If the CPUs are all listed as compatible with my laptop, would that suggest that the motherboard can do 1333MHz FSB (i.e. the motherboard is the same for the whole DV3 series, hence the shared service manual) and it the moment it is just chilling at 1066MHz due to the processor?
I don't want to upgrade to a 1333MHz CPU for it to be limited to 1066MHz (same with RAM)
