just wonder if this is a good combo for cpu - gpu , ryzen 5 2600 with gtx 1080 ti , I have a 1440p 144mhz monitor and looking to hit higher fps 144 or over if possible , don't mind lowering graphics for higher FPS if needed .

Depends on the game. 144fps is a big ask for both the Ryzen 2600 and 1080 Ti @ 1440p unless you're talking about Counterstrike, in which case they're both overkill.

2560x1440 Resolution I think its actually a 2k monitor , I play mostly forza horizon 4 - Rocket league - fifa 20 when it comes out -

You got GSync / FreeSync on that monitor?

The only game I've played from that bunch is Forza Horizon 4, which does a remarkable job of delivering mega frame rates. I'd go so far as to say you could even ditch the 1080 Ti and go for a 1080, especially with the new mega-FPS 30%~ increase in the latest NVidia drivers regarding Forza 4 Horizon (my 1070 Ti nuked that game IMO at ~90 fps 3440x1440 even before those drivers brought it to parity with AMDs advantage in that title).

Then you get to something like Metro Exodus or Assassins Creed Odyssey, which will have a hard time going above 60 fps (or 40 fps in many cases) at 1440p with whatever latest and greatest hardware you throw at it.

Its Gsync - I guess I don't have to use ultra setting so I could get a bit more fps if I wanted , I am sure the monitor is 2k not 4k so I think that would also help as I really want to get over 100 fps .
