Default "CPU has been changed or unworkable...

... Check CPU Soft Menu.

Each time i start up my computer this message is appearing at the begginning of the 'dos' screen. I can either select F1, which allows me to load up as normal, or select DEL to enter 'CMOS Menu'.

Can someone please advise how to get this working correclty again (ie load up without me having to hit buttons). I haven't changed anything in the CMOS menu so i've no idea how this happened!?

A fried suggested i replace the CMOS battery, which i have, but to no avail.

I've tried loading up in Fail-Safe mode but after pressing F1 Windows does not load after reaching 100% on a black loading screen. Using 'Optimized' settings allows windows to load after pressing F1.

Can anyone please help?

Let me guess... the abit IP35-e?

I had the same problems with mine. I reset the BIOS and then i managed to get into it on next boot.

I then changed the DRAM Speed (CPU:DRAM) Ration to 1:1
Then i had to check my RAM timings.

btw, list the rest of your spec.

This message came up on my Dad's PC recently, not exactly sure what caused it. If you go to your BIOS, make sure you view the page with your CPU info/clock speed etc. I did that, saved changes and it didn't come up anymore.

Doesn't sound like much of a fix but I hope it helps you.

try clearing the cmos while having no power at all going to the mobo and leave it like that for afew minutes, then go in and just open it then "save" the default settings, maybe its not remembering what cpu is there properly?
