cpu id and multiplier question

i have a q6600 and an p5q pro mobo.

when i ran cpu id the system speed keeps changing as the multiplier flicks between x6 and x9 with a bus speed of 350 ( running fine at 3.2GHz)

why is the multiplier changing and is there a bios setting to stop it doing this?

This is due to intel speedstep/c1e. Theese can be disabled in bios if required. Theyre power saving features.

thanks for the advice. it might be why anything above 3.2 never worked well
