Hi there I want to know some info about 2 CPU'S . I,m not into overclocking ,so i,m not a gamer ,just want to know which of these 2 CPU'S is faster,if left as standard, NOT overclocked ?

Intel Core 2 DUO E6400 "LGA775 Allendale" 2.13GHz (1066FSB)
or
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4600+ 2.40GHz (Socket AM2)

You've already asked this haven't you? Or sommat similar.
Why not use the CPU checker over on Tom's Hardware, save asking about every combination here.
Hi All, I,m looking at upgrading my p.c and at present i have an AMD Athlon XP 2800 CPU ,and want to know which of these 2 is the better choice ,ie faster ,performance etc , as one is a higher Ghz. i,m not a gamer ,so i won,t be overclocking, just interested in feedback ?

Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB)
or
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+ 2.20GHz (Socket AM2)

It would seem not as the C2D is now a 6400.

The chips are not equal in performance, different apps use the cpu differently meaning that the Athlon will be quicker with certain apps and the Intel with others.

EDIT The C2D is the better chip overall.

What's that? About 8% faster for a lower clocked CPU at roughly the same price. Win for the C2D I reckon.

Yeah

Yeah sems AMD are now in 2nd place ,never thought that would happen in the days of the Duron & Athlon ;)

Err no, the AMD was quicker in this case... 2min06sec (AMD) vs. 2min17sec (E6400)... (I presume he just looked at the default "iTunes 6.0.4.2 - Audio CD Terminator II SE 53 min" benchmark, should really look at the others too!)

The C2D is still the better chip though IMO... (For example, the "Multitasking II - WinRAR 3.60 + Photoshop CS2" benchmark yields 2m36 for the E6400 and 3m16 for the X2 4600... a bit of a thumping...)
