CPU lapping sandpaper question

Hey all
Wanting to start on the lapping side of things
but have run into a bit of a problem, have gona to b & q and halfords
halfords had up to p800 sandpaper
B&Q only had up to P600

Does anybody know of a better place i may be able to get some of this sandpaper ?

Pay your local auto paint dealer they'll have stuff up to about 2000 grit. The stuff your after is also k.nown as wet 'N' dry

For the rip-off-merchants that they are, halfords will have everything you need.
Failing that, any automotive paint supplier.
Shouldn't cost you more than £2 total for 1 sheet of each neccessary grade.

Halfords do a 4 pack for £2.99 that comes with 2 shhets each of 300, 600, 800 and 1200 should be all you need...

I'd use wet and dry not sand paper

Halfords do a kit from (120-1200 iirc) and a 1500 grit. I just bought these and a sanding block. The rest is simples.

I would be carefull with a sanding block you want something Flat I use a piece of cut glass about A4 size. Remember you are aiming to get the cpu surface as flat as possible the finish is less important.

I turn the sanding block upside down and hold the cpu, i find i have more control
