Hi.

I have a aging asus P8P67 Pro motherboard with an Intel i5 2500k processor. Recently I've had a few occasions when the PC won't boot. The "cpu led" remains lit on the MB. There is also no "beep" in the boot process. The screens remain black.

Restarting does nothing, and the light remain on unless I completely disconnect power for several minutes. When connecting back up, it's a 50/50 chance of booting or led to come back on.

Can anyone suggest if this is down to a failing cpu or could it be something else?
No new hardware has been added and it seems like the issue is becoming more regular than before.

Thanks

By wont boot do you mean wont boot or wont post?

Try re-applying thermal paste and re-seating cooler. If you have it overclocked, knock it back to stock.

Just ordered some thermal paste. Not overclocked.
Won't post.
No short beep, but fans on. As soon as I press the power button, fans start and red led lights on mb. That's as far as it goes. No signal ever makes it to monitors.

Started pc up this morning and no problem. Will wait until it does it again and swap out the PSU. Not sure why it would be intermittent.
