CPU limited? 3200 venice

Hi guys

Spec in sig.
Thinking about an upgrade and pondering between a 3700 A64 or X1800xt. so i thought i would run the far cry benchmark at 1024 and 640 res max settings. I found that both averaged 60fps +- 0.6. This is with vsync disabled, so am i reading this correctly and am cpu limited? And therefore better off getting the 3700 rather than gfx, or both. Obviously being used for gaming :) Ps only able to run at 1024 due to screen size.

If you could lower all your settings to make it more cpu intensive then it would show if it was more that way. But by the looks of it you are. Have you overclocked your CPU at all?
 
It totally depends what games you'll be playing. Some eat GPU, some CPU and some a bit/a lot of both.
 
Thanks for clearing that up guys, just benchmarked COD2 at 640 and 1024 and found a difference of 10fps at the lower res. So on this game i am GPU limited so looks like an X1800xt is on its way! :D
 
Yeah i thought so but with the price of A64 i thought i would test this theory to make sure it is not a waste of money just buying the card. With the cpu being the limiting factor with the X1800XT. :D
