CPU locked :( is it the bios or the processor

my CPU is locked, i cant change the multiplier or the fsb. is it the bios that locked the processor or is it programed into processor its self ( sorry i know nothing about overclocking through the bios) I've managed to oc through ntune by increasing the voltage to 1.337 (kentsfield q6600 2.4 now at @ 2.647) i am able to oc to 2.7 by raising the voltage to 1.425, not sure if that will damage the CPU though

what motherboard you got? Sounds like you got a matx mobo with zero options to overclock.

lol nope i have a dell 720, ive been using ntune to oc managed to increase my 3dmark06 score from 10854 to 11921

As far as I am aware Dell motherboards offer little to none overclocking options.

they do in the 720h20 models, which includes the same bios, motherboard and hard drvie, the only difference is that they come with the extreme processors. thats why i asked is it somthing programed into the processor because it cant be the bios
