CPU mainboard compatibility woes?

Hi, My friend has aRyzen 3 3200G which he is trying to mount on a B450M DS3H mainboard.

Everything looks good but the system wont post. All the fans fire off on full whack.

He is using the stock fan with the CPU.

I was double-checking that the processor is supported but it is only supported from a BIOS version released back in May when I know the mainboard wasn't in use.

Could this problem posting be caused by the boarding need it's bios flashing and to do that will I need to second compatible cpu or is something else up?

Would we expect the system to post with reduced CPU features even if the bios can't support the cpu yet?

PC won't POST without BIOS supporting CPU.
And without USB BIOS flashback (or whatever it's called by that brand) only way to update BIOS is CPU supported by existing BIOS.

You can borrow a CPU from amd for the purpose of updating the bios, here's the link.

Thanks both... arghh going to try a USB flash with the proc on board or do I need to unseat it?

You may also be able to take it to a local PC shop who would likely be able to update the bios for you, though they may charge a fee.

As EsaT mentioned, your PC won't boot to BIOS without an appropriate 1st or 2nd gen CPU. You can't update the BIOS without booting into it and running the flash utility.

My old ryzen 7 1800x did the trick. Had to run it with the ryzen 3 air cooler (I still haven't sorted a fan for mine yet) but it got the bios flashed thanks everyone! Now I just need some cash for a cooler on that ryzen 7 and some reasonable memory and I can finally retired my old core 2 quad q6600 I've been running overcl9cked at 3ghz for almost 14 years lol
