Can I get a match check please to make sure I've got the right bits.

It's for a mate's "work" PC and he wants the RGB RAM to match his RGB coolers (H100i Platinum)

Cheers me dears !

It'll work, but I'd say is maybe not the optimal choice for a work PC, given the price of DDR4 nowadays and the lack of graphics on the 5500.

I'd go AM5, with a cheapo B650/B840/B850 board, 32GB of DDR5 and maybe a 8500G/8600G, or a 7600 if you can find one cheaper (unlike Ryzen 5000, all Ryzen 7000/9000 all have basic graphics, except for the F models).

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £321.96 (includes delivery: £7.99)

OCUK have a B840 board for £90 which would get you closer to the original price, but no wifi. It also has no heatsink on the VRMs which is iffy, but would be fine for the 8500G.

Note the 8500G is a special model with 2 different types of cores and low power consumption, you can see more here:

The 8600G is more of a conventional CPU in terms of cores. These CPUs may also have some PCI-E lane restrictions.

You can find benchmarks (for very light gaming) on this channel:

Thanks.

He wants to stay AM4 because he wants to keep the cooler as it's not that old and he likes it, which is why I selected the B550.

Graphics wise he has a 3rd party card and the software he uses for work is capable of using both CPU & GPU for it's operations.

Additionally he wanted the Vengence because the cooler & his case fans are all Corsair RGB controlled by iCue so it matched.

You could get vengeance RGB in DDR5, though I'm not sure how much it would cost.

Most (all?) AM4 coolers are compatible with AM5.

Ahh, I see.
