CPU making high pitch noise!?

As you would expect with my username i have a very quiet setup...Fanless PSU and Sharkoon fans spinning at 600rpm

So i can hear every little noise the pc makes!.Anyway my E6300 seems to be giving off a very annoying high pitch noise...Unless somehow it's my PSU?

I have tried changing the motherboard/Graphics card, but no matter what i do.I can still hear the noise. So i am pretty sure it's the CPU
Is this norma?l.I only ask because i guess most people do not have a system as quiet as mine and wouldn't notice it.Or is it a sign of a faulty CPU?

Thanks

Normally its the PSU, or Mobo, it can be CAP's leaking or Coil Whine when the coil aint tight enough.

I can't see the CPU giving off any noise, so it's probably your PSU. It's possibly a squealing capacitor.

I know what you mean with the high pitched noise, it also changes note when the computer is under load. It tends to be a struggling PSU, or has been with me in the past.

Also as said above with leaky caps.

Many thanks for quick replies!Really appreciate it!

I have ordered a 300W Silverstone Fanless. ST30NF for friday delivery. My psu at the moment is a zen 300 fanless.I will let you know how i get on

And yes the noise does become worse under load. For instance.I can sometimes get rid of the noise by closing certain programs or even closing the web browser. Will also look into the caps/coils too

Thanks again

What kind of monitor do you have?

CRT's notorious for squealing like a pig too. Different pitches depending on how much brightness being emitted.

Try and eliminate the monitor out of the equation.

Not wanting to spoil your quest for quiet but you don't say what GFX card you have. Somone has already said that the problem is usually a struggling PSU and you have just decided to replace a 300W PSU with a 300W PSU. Perhaps something a bit stronger.

I have a XFX GeForce 7300GT 512MB
And a even cheaper 256mb card,both are fanless(of course!)
Just undervolted my E6300 and the noise seems to have gone.Does this again point to the PSU?

Pretty sure 300 watts is plenty for my system
