Thinking of upgrading to the i7 8700k and an asus rig strix z370-e gaming mb with 16gb of 3000mhz ram.

Currently running a 4790k and 16gb ddr3 1866mhz ram.. Full speck in my sig. Suspect MB problems so thinking of an upgrade.

What's your thoughts on this guys?

What's your mobo problems and still under Warranty ?

Whats your screen res ?
My motherboard (if this is the issue) fails to post. I can get it to boot after multiple attempts. Works fine when started. There are no beeps but the board lights up as well as my case lights. Not sure if still under warranty. This is the second time it has failed. The first time it didn't boot either but did beep. It got repaired and has been fine up until now

I play at 1440p resolution but looking to upgrade to a 34" ultrawide 1440p in the future.

I've got a battery so will replace it tonight and setup the bios and report back here to see if it's done the trick.

It is a lot of cash that I didn't plan on spending so if I can fix it that's great. I'd rather a 1080ti than a new cpu etc.

No good guys. Was ok for a few days then went to boot but did a cycle then showed the boot failure screen again. I went into the bios and rebooted and it was fine. It's always fine if it boots up.

Nightmare. So you still think the issue could be the psu or the motherboard?

I would be tempted to flash the bios again to rule out a corrupted bios. Use the Q-Flash tool in the bios to flash it, not a windows based flashing software. Just download the latest bios (F10b) and unzip it. Put it on a usb stick, reboot and enter the bios. Go to the tools section and fire up Q-Flash, point it to the usb stick and let it do it's thing. If you have any settings that you have changed write them down before flashing as it will reset the bios to default.

is everything at stock?
as you're running a custom loop...you've checked that there's no slow leaks that is shorting out the circuits?
as pasty said, bios flash would be something i'd consider too, but a bit odd that it's never been a problem until recently

Ok will do that this evening. Is that the beta bios? Thanks.

No both the gpu and cpu are overclocked. But has been for a long time.

I'll double check tonight but I've recently installed a new lighting kit and didn't see anything. It all looked great.
