i want to get a core 2 duo E4300

i know its not going to be amazing its just money is very tight.

will i be able to overclock it with 1gb of geil ram and a
Asrock 4CoreDual-VSTA (Socket 775) PCI-Express/AGP DDR2 Motherboard

im new to overclocking,

i dont have any of the components yet, but i would like to know how good this would over clock with :

Hey jackassuk56.

A Cpu speed is worked out by the Multiplier + FSB (Front Side Bus).

This is from Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C2D

Model = Core 2 Duo E4300

Clock Speed = 1.8 GHz FSB Rating[/B]

L2 Cache = 2 MiB

FSB Rating = 200 MHz

You can work out the Multi of the 4300 from the FSB. Simply 200 x 9 = 1.8GHZ

So the 4300 has a multi of 9.

I havent had much dealings with the Asrock 4CoreDual-VSTA (Socket 775) PCI-Express/AGP DDR2 Motherboard, but i wouldn't recommend that bored for overclocking.

Whats your total budget, see if we can put you together a nice machine?

well idealy i dont want to spend over £60 on a board. but it has to have 2 ide connectors as i dont have a sata hardrive and dont want to buy one if i dont have to atm

and i would like to have ddr dimm slots aswell as ddr2, agp and pci-e

but i dont mind if it doesnt have the ram but agp and pci-e is a must.
