CPU/Mobo and maybe GPU

So i've got my rig in my sig... but this is for use at my dads house... and I spend probably 3/4 of my time here. But i've also got an outdated computer at my mums.
The spec is nothing of any importance tbh, it's a 2.8GHz P4... an old MSI 865p or 875p, 80gb IDE HDD, 256mb ATI GPU (Not even sure which one as i'm at work) and an unbranded PSU.

Now, for about £100 or less if possible i'm looking at replacing the CPU and mobo with either a dual or quad core and a mobo that is obviously capable of taking PCI-E. I am happy to try a second hand CPU if it means I can get slightly faster for cheaper (usually the case) as with mobo, but if it will fit in the budget then I'd happily pick up brand new.
I'd also like to fit a GPU in there somewhere as I have 2x decent (ish) GPU's but they are both AGP and I'm guessing to get a slightly better mobo, I won't be able to get one with AGP.

I'd like the CPU to be capable of OCing if at all possible so I can squeeze a bit more out of it and cooling wise I'd just buy an Arctic Freezer if it fits.

It will be used mainly for WoW and the occasional 'other' game.

Any advice be appreciated. :)

What ram does the old P4 take, if it's ddr2 then you can get a AMD board with a dual or quad cpu, but if your using DDR then you may need to factor extra cost.

Hi there,

It looks like that motherboard is DDR1 - so to do a meaningful upgrade you will need to replace the motherboard, CPU, RAM and graphics card (as AGP hasn't been supported by modern motherboards for a long time). Also, depending on the existing PSU and the GPU you install, you may well need a new PSU as well. Hence you will be looking at replacing most of the guts of the PC, even with some great second hand deals, a £100 budget probably won't cut it.

Cheap setup below, I would probably get a new PSU.

I've heard good things about that PSU. I do possibly have access to an old Enermax 350w... being Enermax it's a nice psu just a bit low on wattage.
Tbh, I completely forgot about RAM... I'm tired and in the middle of working, i'm not a total computer noob I just have an excuse to be :P
If I was to up my budget to £200, could I shove a quad core in there? can imagine it'd only be another £20 or so then a bit left over for GPU?

Ok, fair enough... what about second hand wise? There's bound to be a few Q6's floating around on the bay that I could pick up... not sure what prices would be reasonable though, and no idea on what mobo to grab with one of them. Any ideas? or input ? :)

The prices on the Members market here go for around £60 - £70 for a Intel Q6600 and perhaps around £30 for a P45 motherboard.

I would look out for a P45, X38 or X48 motherboards either by Gigabyte or Asus.
I have owned a Gigabyte DS5 X38 and P45 motherboard, can't remember the correct model but both worked fine :)

Ok, will have a ponder around the favourite second hand site and see what I can come up with.
Thanks for the quick replies folks :)

Also what's the requirements for Member's market?
