Cpu, mobo + gpu spec please?

OK been thinking about upgrading my boys rig as I posted in another thread earlier. However after some thought I'm thinking maybe it would be possible to get a decent cpu and gpu upgrade for a little extra.

Current spec

AMD fx6300 @ 4.5ghz
MSI 970 gaming mobo
Corsair cx 600m
Msi Radeon hd 7870 2gb hawk
8gb (2x4gb) crucial Ballistix tactical tracer ddr3 1600mhz

Is it possible to upgrade cpu to intel quad core with a decent gpu to play modern games on for a budget of £350?

I'm hoping to order today so I can get it delivered either tomorrow or Saturday. But I'm can't decide on just gpu or just cpu and mobo or all three. Any help greatly appreciated...

For a gaming PC just upgrade the GPU to either a GTX970 or R9 380X/390. The CPU is still ok although that would be the next sensible upgrade. For now though it'll be fine.

OK do you think I should add another 8gb to the system then as it's on offer currently at ocuk. So say r9 390 and 8gb of ram?

8gb will be fine for gaming, getting more really won't make a difference.

The R9 390 is well priced but again, the 8gb of VRAM is a nice to have rather than needed. If he's gaming at 1080p then more really isn't required. Take a look at some benchmarks comparing the R9 390 to the GTX970
