Im looking for a cpu mobo and mem 512 will do, What would be the best CPU im looking to spend £100 for the lot. I only need the pc for the web, apps and footy manager. should i go am2?

Dont meen to be a kill joy but im not sure you will get to far on £100 quid. I will have a looksy and get back to you , as its quite late here, but im not promising anything , at best i figure its a going to be a Sempron or Celeron rig , with a bare minimums motherboard. Any chance of a little wider budget ?

Right i have been looking around for the absoloute cheapest available system .. i warn you none of these systems are going to be fast, but they should do regular desktop stuff. One thing to ask is , what hardware do you already have , such as hard drives and graphics controllers, anyway. The closest i could come with intel is this :

CP-117-IN Intel Celeron D 326 2.53GHz (LGA775) - Retail (CP-117-IN)
£31.49
MB-101-AB Abit SG80-DC SiS 661FX Micro ATX (Socket 775) Motherboard (MB-101-AB)
£33.99
MY-002-OK OcUK Value 512MB PC3200 184pin DDR Memory (MY-002-OK)
£32.99
Subtotal £98.47
VAT £17.24
Total £115.71

And with AMD , this :

CP-176-AM AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (Socket 939) - OEM (CP-176-AM)
£32.99
MY-002-OK OcUK Value 512MB PC3200 184pin DDR Memory (MY-002-OK)
£32.99
DFI LanParty UT RDX200CF-DR Crossfire (Socket 939) Motherboard (MB-017-DF) £35.24

(Note : You will need to purchase a cooler for the CPU as it is OEM , or spend a little more on a retail edition )

Total : £112.27

If i were you i would probably lean towards the AMD , i think all those components are ok together and such if someone could look it over for me ?. Just need to know what you already have ... if you havnt considered graphics then there are some options that may push the price up a tiny but but provide adequate onboard graphics solutions.

Cheers,

Nomisf
