I've been out of the PC hardware loop for far too long, and I have no idea what I'm looking for. Essentially, I'm sure my Motherboard has died, and won't communicate with the hard drives.

Currently, I've got an old phenom 965 CPU, which obviously might as well be upgraded along with the replacement motherboard, with new ddr4 to match.

Can a budget of around 250 get something that can handle the odd game?

For £299 you could get a Ryzen 2600, MSI B450M Mortar, Corsair CX450 (grey label) PSU and Corsair Vengeance 8GB 2x4GB 3000MHz 16-16-16-39 DDR4*, if you shop around.

* Or Team Group Vulcan 3000 16-18-18-36.

The PSU should be replaced too - won't be good for long-term prospects of the new CPU and board to use an old degraded PSU to power them. And the CX450 can be found for just £45.

I'll risk it for a chocolate biscuit on the PSU. I bought an new PSU late last year, good brand too.

Thanks your reply. I will look those up and find the Magic money tree!

Ah thought it was the OCZ in your sig. :)

Well, can grab 16GB 3200MHz C16 G.Skill in place of a PSU, for £286.06 all in, today.

You're welcome.
