In a previous thread I was to invest in a new cpu/mobo and gpu but funds are lower than I thought (roughly £250 budget) so I can only get one or the other.

My options are either:

Phenom 965 to be replaced by Intel i5 k series and mobo

Hd6950 to be replaced by hd7950 or gtx 660ti

(cheap) 22'' lcd hd ready tv to be replaced by 1920 x 1020 monitor

What I want to know is which upgrade will be best for my budget at the moment and what would be the best option when it comes to the 7950 and 660ti? On most benchmarks I see that the 7950 leads but I just seen the borderlands 2 video showing the use of physx and I must say I was a tad impressed, especially considering im really looking forward to the game.

I'd go for a 7950 over a 660Ti, the 660Ti is overpriced imo when compared to the great prices on the 7950 atm. The 660Ti is memory bandwidth bottle-necked, especially when you use higher levels of AA. The 7950 also has much more overclocking headroom.

I was more heading towards the 7950 and I must agree the 660 does seem a tad overpriced. Quick question, im tempted to buy a crossfire mobo incase I decide to go dual gpu in the future, would I need a full tower case to accommodate another gpu? Im using this at the moment http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-018-XG

No, you wouldn't need a full tower case, a reasonably sized mid tower would be fine. Full tower cases are really only needed for e-ATX or XL-ATX motherboards (for 3+ way SLI/CFX) or for watercooling. Make sure to get a motherboard with 2 slots between the PCI-e X16 lanes so that there is a single slot gap when you install two dual slot cards. You'd probably want to install side fans for a crossfire setup if you haven't already.
